SafeSport

A safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all sailors

We provide SafeSport training to all coaches and volunteers to ensure a safe, positive, and respectful environment for every participant. SafeSport education helps our team recognize and prevent misconduct, set appropriate boundaries, and uphold the highest standards of athlete well-being, trust, and accountability.

What is SafeSport?

SafeSport is a comprehensive training and certification program developed to build safe, inclusive, and respectful sports organizations. In sailing, SafeSport training covers:

Recognizing and preventing abuse and harassment
Creating inclusive environments where everyone belongs
Understanding boundaries and appropriate interactions
Reporting procedures and resources
Building a culture of respect and accountability

All staff and volunteers complete annual SafeSport certification.

Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies (MAAP)

For Parents & Guardians

Your child's safety is our highest priority. Here's what we do to protect young sailors:

  • • Background checks on all instructors and staff
  • • SafeSport training for everyone working with youth
  • • Clear policies on conduct, boundaries, and interactions
  • • Open communication — parents are always welcome to observe
  • • Reporting procedures for concerns or incidents

We want every sailor to feel safe, respected, and included. In our SafeSport culture:
